Google Search Console adds Social Media Platform Properties

โ—Huge Updateโ— Google Search Console lets you now track Social Media Platform Performance! Is Google admitting now that discovery does not happen anymore just with websites??

Google just introduced a brand new update for adding Social Media platforms to your Search Console.

Until now, Search Console only showed you performance for your own website.ย

Now you can connect Instagram, TikTok, X or YouTube directly, even if you dont own a website at all, and see exactly how that content shows up on Google Search and Discover. And also export the data.

โœ… Performance report: clicks, impressions, and which specific posts and queries are actually driving traffic. Data is exportable too.
โœ… Insights report: a clean overview of your traffic trends, top performing posts, and how people are finding your account through Google.
โœ… Achievements: milestones as you cross new thresholds of clicks from Search, nice touch for creators who live for that dopamine hit.

Setup is simple: Open Search Console, click add property, pick your platform, and verify. Rolling out in the next weeks to many of us.

My opinion: this is Google quietly admitting that discovery doesnt happen on websites anymore, it happens on social and video first, then gets picked up by Search and Discover.
