Perplexity AI launches new Browser "Comet" - Agentic Search

🚨 News! Perplexity has announced its 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐀𝐈 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐬𝐞𝐫 "𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭" is launching soon. And with that probably also a 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐝𝐬.

Perplexity is really entering into the crowded browser landscape with its new AI Browser "Comet" and signaling Google Chrome that they are ready to compete, even if they might not get a big market share.

𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬:
✅ A new search experience = new ad formats and for sure new Ad Platform.
✅ Could slightly (probably 1-3%) disrupt Google’s share on PPC traffic.
✅ May force Google to accelerate AI-powered ad placements.
✅ Tech-focused targeting: unlike Google, where broad reach dominates, Perplexity users are already engaged in deep research, making them an ideal audience for companies in AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity for placing their ads on Comet.
✅ Ad-free alternative? They could still go with their subscription-based ad-free AI search but I think they will miss out too much revenue and investors will push towards a traditional ad-system.

As I posted some months ago, Perplexity started rolling out "Follow up ads" on its platform. They for sure need to boost their revenue streams with more ads on its new browser Comet.

Even if AI is so innovative and changing our Tech world every day, some traditional ad-based revenue streams (PPC) will not get old.
