Perplexity AI launches new Browser "Comet" - Agentic Search
π¨ News! Perplexity has announced its π§ππ° ππ ππ§ππ’π π¬πππ«ππ‘ ππ ππ«π¨π°π¬ππ« "ππ¨π¦ππ" is launching soon. And with that probably also a π§ππ° π°ππ² ππ¨ π©π₯πππ πππ¬.
Perplexity is really entering into the crowded browser landscape with its new AI Browser "Comet" and signaling Google Chrome that they are ready to compete, even if they might not get a big market share.

A new search experience = new ad formats and for sure new Ad Platform.

Could slightly (probably 1-3%) disrupt Googleβs share on PPC traffic.

May force Google to accelerate AI-powered ad placements.

Tech-focused targeting: unlike Google, where broad reach dominates, Perplexity users are already engaged in deep research, making them an ideal audience for companies in AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity for placing their ads on Comet.

Ad-free alternative? They could still go with their subscription-based ad-free AI search but I think they will miss out too much revenue and investors will push towards a traditional ad-system.
As I posted some months ago, Perplexity started rolling out "Follow up ads" on its platform. They for sure need to boost their revenue streams with more ads on its new browser Comet.
Even if AI is so innovative and changing our Tech world every day, some traditional ad-based revenue streams (PPC) will not get old.
